My paintings are invitations. Stand where I have stood. Recall and relive the sensations experienced walking along trails, under forest canopies, and exploring wilderness. Standing in a cathedral of trees and taking a deep breath can remind us of our essence. Alongside these affirmative memories, there may also be distress, knowing these ecosystems may be dramatically altered in our lifetime.
I see these landscapes for their beauty and the bountiful resources they provide us today, and I see them with deep concern for tomorrow. I explore these forests with my young daughter. As she joyfully explores her world, she is unaware of the consequences of climate change her generation will face. May we pause not simply to enjoy a landscape, but to see our own roles as its stewards.
