Deadeyes "Guardian #7" 8x10 Painting
I was inspired by the street art characters and graffiti in the San Francisco Mission in the late 90's.The freedom I witnessed there made me think of creating art on my own terms. That’s when I began to develop tribal masks. Most of my work falls into the category of Black Futurism, highlighting the play between African patterns and elements of science fiction. My art is known for bold linework and the balance of contour lines and free flow form.

The Mechanical Guardian mask is a character I’ve been developing for over 20 years. It’s origins come from Japanese cartoons and African masks.
