Hargun Mahal Mann - "Forbidden Dance"
Ink and watercolor on paper mounted on 10×10 inch wood panel, ships May 1st
Inspired by Hans Christian Anderson’s fairytale - The Red Shoes, where a young girl is seduced by a beautiful pair of red shoes. She dares to wear them and dance, ultimately dying in the end. To me the story is about taming and forbidding young girls to be themselves and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. This is my take on the Girl taking control and empowering herself to dance 💃🏽.
